LOKEY Motor Company Hosts Clearwater Jazz Holiday Poster Unveiling
With superb fare and the relaxing sounds of jazz playing, June 17th was a splendid night for everyone attending the Clearwater Jazz Holiday Poster Unveiling at LOKEY Motor Company in Clearwater. LOKEY opened its beautiful Mercedes-Benz showroom to host a brilliant party to celebrate Clearwater Jazz, musicians and art.
Guests enjoyed a night of live jazz entertainment, a silent auction, delicious catered food and the poster unveiling for Clearwater Jazz Holiday 2014. The celebration of jazz and art had everyone in attendance feeling spirited and ready for the upcoming 35th Clearwater Jazz Holiday event that begins October 16th. With four days and nights of beautiful sunsets, fantastic music and delicious food - everyone is jazzed for this year’s Clearwater Jazz Holiday!
The night was fabulous and enjoyed by all. Penelope Daskalos of LOKEY Motor Company, says, “The Clearwater Jazz Poster Unveiling was truly a spectacular event! Our LOKEY Mercedes- Benz Showroom was beaming brightly with all the guests in attendance. The incredibly talented Jazz Band filled the room with beautiful music while Chef Erwin prepared his truly scrumptious and delectable food and all the guests were smiling and laughing trying to decide which extraordinary silent auction to bid on. It was an exceptionally remarkable and amazing evening.”
During the poster unveiling, as we waited in anticipation to see the gorgeous artwork that will represent Clearwater Jazz’s 35th Anniversary, attendees were served fantastic hors d’oeuvres catered by E & E Stakeout Grill and Guppy’s Seafood Grill and Bar. We were graced with the rhythmic sound of hand-selected high school artists playing in a jazz quartet, which allowed for good vibrations during the silent auction. The food, beverages and sound of gorgeous jazz made for a perfect evening to support a local tradition, to keep the love of jazz alive.
While waiting for the poster unveiling guests were able to bid on silent auction items. All proceeds from the auction support Clearwater Jazz and the educational program they keep up year-round for students. Clearwater Jazz joins with the Pinellas Education Foundation to reward two promising student musicians with scholarships every year. These scholarships are made possible by the High Notes Society members and cherished sponsors who donate every year at Clearwater Jazz fundraisers. Clearwater Jazz sends a big thank you to these members, because “without them our programs for keeping a passion for music alive would not be possible.”
As a nonprofit organization, Clearwater Jazz has fundraisers throughout the year to support their educational programs and jazz highlights.
This year’s poster artist, Rick Hohimer (R.J.), designed the gorgeous piece of art with the intent to reflect the style of narrative expressionism. Hohimer’s brushstroke is influenced by French chemist Chevreul, who was an influence of George Seurat. Hohimer’s work is compared to creating an emotional energy with color brilliance and saturation through his juxtaposition of tones on canvas. His work is said to, “envelop the viewer by creating alluring scenarios and inviting active participation in the story the artist has begun. The uniqueness of this art is that each time we look; we eagerly walk into his world.” Hohimer’s brilliance and intensity in his work emits energy similar to that of the famous works of Van Gogh, Gauguin and Emil Nolde.
LOKEY Motor Company would like to thank everyone who came out to support Clearwater Jazz.
